lecture 45 minThe Worlds most expenvise concert ticket. On turning Points in Large Group Conflicts
The lecture will draw its insight from diverse literature, from experiences of people working in the field or beeing personally concerned and frinm art. It is about the dangerous politicization of identities in ethnic conflict and about the impossibility of a way out.
Ethnopolitical conflicts tend to escalate to a point, where it seems impossible to acknowlegde the interests of the otehrs without giving up oneself. The porblematic images of self and others effective in these dynamics are driven by politically reactiváted collective traumas of the conflict parties. The hopelessness of such conflicts and the forces that stabilize them will be laid out. Examples of the turning points will hel to get a prmonition of what it is that works, when the conflict open to transform.
